  • Drink Miami HOSTEL$35Sat, Jun 4

Over 20 of the world’s most recognized spirits will be featured at Drink Miami HOSTEL — a one-day event from 1 to 4 p.m. featuring infinite libations from the city’s top bartenders, one-on-one interactions with regional and global brand ambassadors, and unique activations – inhabits the historic Freehand Miami.

Concocted by local spirit connoisseurs, beverage professionals and drinking buddies Gabriel Urrutia, Giovanny Gutierrez and Matt Hirsch, Drink Miami HOSTEL was born out of a desire to showcase and build awareness of the 305’s cocktail culture and educate consumers on the art of imbibing and cocktailery.

“Ernest Hemingway wrote ‘Always do sober what you said you’d do drunk,'” says Gabriel Urrutia. “We’re taking his literal advice and sticking to what’s been the topic of conversation over many rounds of drinks for the past year,” adds Giovanny Gutierrez.

Guests will be able to cocktail hop from room to room and experience to experience, as Drink Miami HOSTEL and participating brands will occupy and transform 15 of the Freehand’s guest rooms across both floors into their very own house party room, beer garden, and build your own old fashioned bar.

A tour of the Freehand Miami, an original 1930s Art Deco building and home to one of the World’s 50 Best Bars The Broken Shaker, will be offered to those who want a sip of Miami history.

Serious imbibers can whet their whistle with serious product from Absolut Elyx, Afrohead, Ancho Reyes, Atlantico, Avion, Dillon’s Distillers, Disaronno, Dos Maderas, Fernet Branca, Herradura, High West, Jägermeister, Jameson Black Barrel, Jameson Caskmates, Milagros, Montelobos, Old Forester, Peroni, Richland Rum, Reyka, Tequila Chamucos, The Irishman, Toki, Tullamore D.E.W., Williams Humbert, Zucca and more to be announced. Select brands will be using Miami Drink HOSTEL as an opportunity to shake things up (Peroni will be mixing up beer cocktails), launch new products (Beam Suntory’s latest Japanese whisky), and gage never before done recipes (be sure to stop by Zucca’s room to get a taste of their new higher ABV).

Upon check-in at Drink Miami HOSTEL, guests will get receive an official passport to keep track of their journey and featuring recipes from each respective brand. This passport will also grant you access to the Broken Shaker’s notoriously celebrated punch room, as well as the enchanting courtyard and pool area. “When choosing the perfect place to host Drink Miami, the James Beard nominated Broken Shaker and historic Freehand was a no-brainer,” says Matt Hirsch. “We wanted somewhere that was emblematic to not just the vibrant Art Deco past of Miami Beach but of our cocktail evolution, and this place put us on the world map and best bars list, literally.” “Where else in Miami can you enjoy a handcrafted punch and discuss drinking philosophies with like spirited individuals?” questions Urrutia. “There are no shortage of annual food festivals and events in Miami, but spirits and cocktails always seem to be an afterthought. We wanted to change that,” adds Gutierrez.

Drink Miami HOSTEL will take place on Saturday, June 4th, 2016 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 2727 Indian Creek Drive. Tickets for the all you can drink event cost $35 for early bird special and $45 thereafter. Tickets can be purchased HERE  or at the door the day of the event.
