Family Style Dinner Deal @ Bourbon Steak

Bourbon Steak is offering a great deal for locals (tourists too) to take advantage of this summer.  It's perfect for family gatherings or a group of friends.  The deal is available 7 nights a week and runs from June 1 through July 30.  See you there!!



Executive Chef Gabriel Fenton at Michael Mina's Bourbon Steak restaurant fondly remembers summer nights spent corralling at the dinner table with his family in New Jersey, which serves as the inspiration behind his new family-style dinner menu which will be available seven nights a week starting June 1 for only $49 per person. The menu will change weekly, but the first one will include the restaurant's signature duck fat fries to start; an appetizer featuring crispy Maryland soft-shell crabs and a spicy grilled local corn & cherry tomato salad drizzled with a cilantro pesto; and an entrée of a braised Niman Ranch short ribs accompanied by Chef selection of side dishes. A collection of handmade desserts, ice creams and sorbets prepared by Pastry Chef Andrea Sans Araiza will conclude the meal. The restaurant's a la carte menu also will be available. Valet parking is complimentary with dinner. This promotion ends July 30 in time to celebrate Miami Spice Month.

CHOCOLATE, WINE & CIGAR PAIRING CLASS @ BOURBON STEAK 5/13/11

A seductively inviting class pairing exquisite MarieBelle New York chocolates with velvety red wines and world-renowned Camacho cigars infused with hints of caramel and complex spices will take place at BOURBON STEAK on Friday, May 13 at 7 p.m. During the event, participants will taste featured selections and learn about how all three complement one another and can enhance flavors as well. Robert Caldwell, president of The Hotel Humidor Co., along with the restaurant’s Wine Director Justin Hall will lead the educational class.

The cost to participate is $50 per person and includes a glass of wine, two cigars and a variety of fine chocolates. Cigar features of the evening will include the Camacho Connecticut and rare Camacho 10^th Anniversary.

Kentucky Derby @ Bourbon Steak 5/7/11

 It's that time of year again sports fans.  The 137th running of the  Kentucky Derby is this Saturday with post time set for 6:24 p.m.  It's an exciting two minutes and this years field is wide open.  Bourbon Steak, courtesy of General Manager John Riccardo is opening the bar at 5 p.m. and will be serving half price Mint Juleps and showing the race on their large screen TV in the lounge area.  The Heat/Celtics game is Saturday night  as well which will give you ample time to try a few bourbons from their tower.  If bourbon isn't your thing, Sommelier Justin Hall will be on hand to assist you with extensive wine list.  Chef Gabriel Fenton's bar menu and burgers are great and the full menu is also available in the bar/lounge area.      

One of the best bartenders in town, Monique has been fine tuning her Mint Julep all week as evidenced by the video below.




P.S. If you are interested in placing a wager on the race I know that the Dog Track in Hallandale is open all day on Saturday.  I'm not sure about Gulfstream.  I'll be posting my picks later in the week via Twitter.

Culinarium @ Villa 221 with Dim Ssam a gogo 5/5/11

I highly recommend checking this event out.  Villa 221 played host to our  Cobaya Dinner earlier this week and is a very cool space.  As you probably already know,  Dim Ssäm à gogo is one of the best food trucks in town.  This should be a fun event.
