Red Light

Chef Kris Wessel's restaurant, Red Light opened tonight. I was unable to locate a menu but it appears that it will be limited for a couple of weeks. I'll post back upon receipt of any updated info and after I try it.
Kris started Paninoteca on Lincoln Road before opening Liaison on Espanola. He was also at Elia at Bal Harbor.

It's up the block from Michy's on Biscayne. 7700 Biscayne@Motel Blu

Bourbon Steak

BARGAIN AT BOURBON

Curious about Bourbon Steak, the new Michael Mina restaurant at Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort, but worried about the sticker shock? A Wednesday American Institute of Wine & Food dinner may be the ticket.

For the relative bargain price of $105 ($95 for AIWF members), you get a three-course ''Back to Basics'' menu that includes a choice of heirloom tomato soup with lobster grilled cheese or romaine with black olive Caesar dressing; an American Kobe burger, barbecued pork short ribs or wood-grilled organic chicken with sides; and beignets with crème brulée, butterscotch or chocolate pot de crème. Plus wines selected by sommelier Matthew Turner and coffee or tea.

Reservations for the 7 p.m. dinner are available through AIWF at 305-663-9641 or 954-396-3875.

Coffee and Radio Balls

There is a great little coffee shop on Federal Highway in Hollywood called The Coffee Box. They serve great espresso drinks and have the added bonus of a drive thru. Try the cafe bravo.

If coffee isn't your thing head next door to Rosies Gourmet Italian Ices and order a radio ball. It's soft serve ice cream layered with Italian ice. Good stuff. They also have a drive thru window.

Stone Crabs

You still have some time to enjoy stone crabs before the season ends. I found a great place in Hollywood that sells super fresh and tasty stone crabs. Sizes vary. Large were $20 a pound last time and they will crack them for you. (cash only) They also sell a lot of fresh seafood. Best you will find in area with great prices. They ship to the best restaurants in the country. Definitely check this place out.
